  • 2.25 lb lean Ground Beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 15 oz can black beans
  • 2 15 oz can of chili beans
  • 1 30 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 10 oz can diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • 1 30 oz can tomato sauce

These are staple ingredients you may already have in your house.
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic 
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano 
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Directions

  1. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and sauté beef until browned. Drain.
  2.  Add onion to the skillet and sauté until tender (4-5 minutes). Add minced garlic and seasonings: cumin, chili powder, oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cook another 30 seconds stirring constantly. 
  3.  Transfer to slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients: rinsed and drained beans, diced tomatoes with their juice, diced tomatoes and green chilies with their juice and tomato sauce. Stir to combine.
  4.  Cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or on LOW for 6-8 hours.

Additional notes

Optional toppings: shredded cheese, onion, avocado, cilantro, sour cream, sliced jalapeños.
